Background

The ‘I’ in CIO intended to be the information – that is The Data. The concept behind the original proposal for CIO was to create a role independent of the Information Systems Manager and the individual Data owners such as Sales, Fulfilment and Customer Service.

There will always be some conflict between these departments on which data matters and which customer name and address for example is used – where and when.

CBI has a long history in Data Ownership and management with unique insights into the best way to distribute ownership of data
